Dreamt up by architects Françoise Mauffret and Jean Guervilly, the Campus Condorcet site in Paris - Porte de la Chapelle is intended for the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne’s classes, lectures and seminars for undergraduate and professional Masters degrees in social sciences and humanities.
Spanning a full 9,000 m2, the Campus Condorcet Paris will be located at the disused Dubois station, which the City of Paris bought back from the French Rail Network . The construction work is being jointly funded by the State, Région Île-de-France, the City of Paris, the Campus Condorcet public establishment, and the CROUS de Paris.
Designed with the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne’s undergraduate and professional Masters degrees in social sciences and humanities in mind, the building is set to be structured around a large garden and will span 22,748 m2 of floor space, to include:
Teaching facilities (auditoriums, tutorial rooms, IT and multimedia rooms, language laboratories, map room);
A social sciences and humanities university library;
Premises for Université Paris 1 student admin and teaching support;
A space given over to Université Paris 1 student societies;
A City of Paris student life centre;
A restaurant area managed by the CROUS de Paris;
Site administration premises.
Over 4,000 people — including 3,500 students — are expected to use the site due to open in Autumn 2025.
Françoise Mauffret and Jean Guervilly have designed a campus that opens out onto the Boulevard Ney, in a complex that will contribute to regenerating Porte de La Chapelle. This neighbourhood is undergoing a transition, most notably with the Arena stadium being built for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. When it opens, Université Paris 1 staff and students will be treated to a modern district with excellent Metro line 12 and tram links to Paris, all just one Metro stop away from the Campus Condorcet site in Aubervilliers.
